Biography
RETHDA Rathanak is a Cambodian legal educator and programme management professional with experience in international law, international humanitarian law, legal research, advocacy training, and academic programme development.
He currently serves as Deputy Director of the NUM International Program of Legal Studies (NUM iLAW), where he supports the overall management and implementation of the program, develops training materials, provides training to moot court coaches, and contributes to strategic planning and academic quality assurance.
His professional experience also includes serving as a Programme Manager at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), where he conducted legal research on Khmer Rouge jurisprudence and led educational activities connected to the ECCC’s residual functions. He previously worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), managing humanitarian cooperation programmes and supporting work related to international humanitarian law, migration, restoring family links, and institutional partnerships.
As a lecturer at the National University of Management, he has taught courses including Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law, Legal Methodology, and Critical Thinking and Analysis. He has also coached and led students in major international moot court competitions.
