Where It All Began: NUM iLAW’s First Moot Court Victory

September 16, 2026 - 54 views - By NUM iLAW Editorial Team

In 2019, NUM iLAW marked an important milestone in its journey of learning by doing when our students achieved their first national moot court victory at the 10th National Round of the International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition.

Under the leadership and support of H.E. Prof. Hor Peng, Rector of the National University of Management, NUM iLAW students demonstrated outstanding performance in both written and oral advocacy.

The teams received an impressive six awards: Winning Team, 1st Runner-up Team, Best Prosecution Memorial, Best Defense Memorial, Best Prosecution Oralist, Best Defense Oralist.

This achievement became an important starting point for NUM iLAW’s mooting journey. What began with our students taking their first steps into competitive advocacy has since developed into a strong mooting culture, providing generations of students with opportunities to strengthen their legal research, writing, teamwork, and oral advocacy skills.

Looking back, the 2019 victory remains more than an award. It represents where our journey began and the foundation upon which NUM iLAW continues to build its learning-by-doing approach today.
